Massive Security Breach At Bebe Stores During Black Friday.

Massive Security Breach at Bebe Stores During Black Friday.

Retailer BEBE confirms they were victim of stolen payment information

That’s right, from November 2nd to November 26th BEBE became another large company to be added to the digital security breach list. The list now includes retail giants such as Target, Staples, Home Depot and Neiman Marcus. Bebe officially confirmed today that cards processed in US, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands were affected by the breach. Their online store and international stores seem to be okay. There is still no mention of the actual amount of damage done, but there is now info on their website on how you can try and protect your identity, and hopefully get some of your money back. Most security breaches occur when a transaction is being processed on a store’s Point Of Sale system. Hackers hop on with malware and have a field day with customer information. This usually happens to big retailers when they have invested a large amount of money in POS systems and are too worried about losing money to update or replace it. There has been a lot of effort by various companies to fix these problems but a majority of stores still go unprotected, especially in the small business sector. Many small businesses believe they are small and off the radar or that there is no solution that is affordable for their business. Both of these assumptions are dead wrong. 71% of all security breaches are small businesses and it is usually a fatal blow. However there is an affordable solution available to small business at Skywire. Skywire POS offers cutting-edge data security like point to point encryption, and now with the addition of My Digital Shield it’s almost a no brainer for businesses of all sizes to get updated. But don’t take my word for it, research for yourself and make up your own mind. After all, it’s the reputation or downfall of your business.
